Report: Tottenham and Liverpool still both keen on signing £40m relegated player

Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are still said to be interested in taking David Brooks from Bournemouth ahead of the domestic transfer deadline by the Daily Mail.

Brooks caught the eye two years ago in the Premier League, when his skilful performances in a Bournemouth shirt dazzled.

Although he missed a large chunk of last season, he has now still remained on Tottenham and Liverpool’s radar.

Jose Mourinho and Jurgen Klopp are now said to remain keen on signing the playmaker, but doing a deal could be very difficult.

Bournemouth want £40 million for Brooks, and are said to be under no pressure to sell, as they have raised so much money this summer.

At that sort of price, it would be a shock of Tottenham or Liverpool made a move for Brooks any time soon.

The Welsh international could help to increase the creativity available to either side, but he doesn’t look a totally necessary recruit for the duo.

Tottenham already have the likes of Dele Alli, Erik Lamela, Gareth Bale, Heung-Min Son and Steven Bergwijn who can play in the slots behind the striker.

Liverpool, on the other hand, have brought in Diogo Jota already this summer, and surely won’t be too desperate to add another expensive attacker to their ranks just yet.
