Fresh from the most impressive season of his career, Napoli look set to cut ties with Insigne.

Napoli are still yet to enter negotiations with attacker Lorenzo Insigne over a new contract amid reported interest from the Premier League, Il Mattino reports.
Insigne ended a goal drought lasting over 1,000 minutes in Serie A by netting a match-winning brace in the Partenopei’s 2-1 triumph away to Udinese on Sunday, going someway to answering the many critics that have lamented his slow start to the campaign.
The 25-year-old recovered from a cruciate ligament injury to enjoy his most effective season to date in 2015/16, his 12 goals and 10 league assists pushing Juventus right up until the final hurdle in the Serie A title race while simultaneously justifying tentative comparisons with Napoli legend Diego Maradona.
However, long-running disputes with the club concerning his wages have coincided with Dries Mertens taking his place in the Napoli starting line-up, while new Italy boss Giampiero Ventura handed him only a brief cameo off the bench in the national team’s 4-0 win against Liechtenstein last time out.
Consequently, speculation has intensified that Insigne could be on his way to the Premier League, with talkSPORT reporting that both Tottenham and Liverpool have expressed an interest in one of Italy’s most talented yet inconsistent attacking players, with Napoli reported to be willing to listen to offers of £44 million.

Though such a fee appears inflated for a forward whose struggles have certainly had a debilitating impact on his side’s stuttering start to the season, Insigne’s dazzling form throughout 2015/16 demonstrated a player whose world-class potential is itching to reveal itself on a regular basis.
Calciomercato report that Insigne’s priority is to commit his future to his boyhood club for the foreseeable future but, with no contact forthcoming from the Napoli directors, such a decision may be taken out of his hands.
