Italian outlet CalcioMercato report that Serie B side Bari want just £4.4million for Morocco World Cup striker Walid Cheddira – amid surprise links to both Tottenham and Nottingham Forest ahead of the January transfer window.

The 24-year-old has been in stunning form this season. The striker has netted 14 goals in 15 games for Bari, easily earning his place in Qatar. He has also laid on five assists, after spending last season on loan at Bari in the third tier.

Quite the story. To go from playing third-tier Italian football last term, to links with a newly-promoted Premier League side in Forest – and a knockout Champions League club in Spurs. Serie B News say his form has alerted those at Spurs.

Gianluca Di Marzio has reported Forest’s interest. Now, CM report that Torino are also tracking Cheddira – who was sensationally sent off after two quick yellow cards against Portugal at the World Cup. Bari want just £4.4million.

While he is relatively unproven on the biggest stage – Serie B is the highest standard he has played at – Cheddira is bang in form. His 19 goals and assists in 15 games is not something that goes easily unnoticed. £4.4million is cheap.

He has the physical attributes that Antonio Conte and Steve Cooper like in a striker. Cooper signed Emmanuel Dennis and Taiwo Awoniyi in the summer – two physical no.9’s. Cheddira is no different. Conte needs back up for Harry Kane.

So, Cheddira is unproven. But he is young enough at 24, and hungry. He is in the form of his life and is only going to get better. Given he would cost less than £5million, he would also be very low-risk. A no-brainer for either side.
