CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs has reported that Tottenham and other Premier League clubs will have to spend £12million to sign Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott this month – with Spurs one of six top-flight sides keen on Scott.
Scott, 19, has broken into Bristol City’s senior side and clocked up an enormous 70 appearances over the last three seasons. He had had a hand in 11 goals during that time, scoring four himself – and laying on seven assists for City.
His form has not gone unnoticed. Nicknamed the ‘Guernsey Grealish’ for his dribbling ability, alliteration and his birth placeof Guernsey, Premier League clubs are taking notice. Tottenham are keen to lure Scott to North London soon.
However, Leeds, Bournemouth, Wolves, Leicester and Brighton are also interested in signing Scott. That is according to Jacobs who reports that Bristol City want a fee of £12million for the talented midfielder. He has a contract until 2025.

Spurs getting a deal over the line for Scott is actually quite important. They need homegrown players. In the summer, they were forced with the possibility of having to leave either Pape Matar Sarr or Bryan Gil out of their European squad.
So, bringing a few English players in at Scott’s age can help deal with that. Especially given Harry Winks, Japhet Tanganga and others are being linked with the exit door – even more worryingly, Harry Kane. Englishman are needed.
Scott fits the bill, even if Spurs are well-stocked in the middle of the park. But he has the potential to go on. Reach the likes of Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s level. £12million is a bargain for a player with such talent.
For Scott, though, he will know a move to Spurs will not guarantee football. A move to the likes of Leicester, Wolves or other mid-table, well-established Premier League sides will be much more fruitful.
