According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton have both looked at Rangers defender James Tavernier.

It’s claimed that the two Premier League clubs have considered moves for Tavernier, though the Gers are in no mood to sell.

Crystal Palace, Newcastle United and West Ham United are also thought to have been keen on signing Tavernier, who has just 18 months left on his Rangers deal.

That means the Gers may find themselves under pressure in the near future, especially if they can’t secure a new deal with the 29-year-old.

He cost just £200,000 from Wigan Athletic in 2015, and now finds himself wanted by Premier League clubs – including one that sold him in Newcastle.

A move to Tottenham seems a little unlikely though, as they already have Serge Aurier as well as summer signing Matt Doherty, meaning they’re strong in that area.

With Seamus Coleman enduring injury issues, Everton could be a possible destination, but whether they would cough up for another player approaching his 30’s.

Tavernier’s attacking record is staggering; he’s hit 16 goals and 11 assists in 25 games this season, whilst his total record for the Gers now stands at a ridiculous 62 goals and 85 assists in 268 games.

That kind of attacking quality is bound to turn heads, and Rangers must be pushing for a new contract with their captain in the near future.
