Report: Tottenham and Everton can sign £23m summer target for £6.5m in January

Napoli owner Aurelio de Laurentiis may be willing to sell Arkadiusz Milik for just £6.5 million in the January transfer window amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur, according to AreaNapoli.

This isn’t the first report to suggest Spurs remain interested in a Poland international whose contract is due to expire in July 2021.

With Harry Kane back to his brilliant best and Carlos Vinicius impressing since arriving on loan from Benfica, you’d be forgiven for thinking there’s no room for another number nine in north London.

But while a permanent deal for Vinicius would set Daniel Levy back £41 million, the chance to sign Milik for about £35 million less may be an opportunity too good to be missed.

According to reports from southern Italy, Napoli are ready to consider offers of just £6.5 million for a man who, as recently as mid-September, was valued at £23 million (Gazzetta).

Milik is out of contract in just a few months and, having refused to sign an extension, one of Serie A’s biggest clubs may have no choice but to cash in on the cheap to avoid losing him for free.

The 2020 Coppa Italia champion, who scored 14 goals last season and 20 the year before, has been left out of Napoli’s squad for every one of their fixtures in 2020/21.

Tuttomercatoweb believes Everton are interested too.

Milik would provide some much-needed competition for Dominic Calvert-Lewin in attack and could even play alongside the Toffees’ number nine, as he does with Robert Lewandowski for the Polish national team.
