Torino will demand a fee of around £10 million if Crystal Palace or Tottenham Hotspur come calling for Sasa Lukic in the summer transfer window, as reported by Torino Granata.
If we told you that a Torino player was in the crosshairs of two Premier League clubs, you would be forgiven for assuming that means Andrea Belotti, the rampaging bull of a centre-forward, was back in the gossip columns.
In truth, 24-year-old Lukic has flown under the radar since forcing his way into the starting XI last season.
So when the rumours first emerged last week, suggesting that the Serbia international had admirers at Spurs and Palace, it is fair to say many in Italy did their best Carlo Ancelotti impression, raising their eyebrows at reports linking the underrated midfielder with a move to England (TMW).
Torino Granata backs up those claims, stating that the Serie A outfit will ask for a fee in the region of £10 million for Lukic – if they can stave off the looming threat of relegation, of course.
Torino may also open talks over a new contract with the former Levante ace. Lukic’s current deal expires in 2023.
The question on everybody’s lips, however, concerns what Lukic would bring to Tottenham or Crystal Palace’s engine room.
An industrious, hard-working and disciplined central midfielder, it feels unlikely that the 24-year-old would oust Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and co from Jose Mourinho’s XI.
Although, with Spurs looking to balance domestic and European exploits, Lukic would offer some much-needed cover in a key position.
At Palace, meanwhile, the 24-year-old would provide an injection of youth alongside the ageing Luka Milivojevic and James McArthur.
