Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal have both began speaking with the agent of Joaquin Correa, it has been reported.

According to Il Messaggero earlier in June, Arsenal had seen a £17 million bid knocked back by Lazio.

Some days later, Gazzetta Dello Sport claimed that their North London rivals – Tottenham – were also keen on the 26-year-old attacker.

And it seems like both English clubs remain interested because Corriere Della Sera has reported that Spurs and the Gunners have both ‘started contacts’ with the Argentina international’s representatives.

The report has added that the Italian side value Correa – who has eight caps for Argentina – at around €40 million, or £34.3 million.

Who needs him more?

Correa scored 11 goals in 38 games for Lazio this past season and probably isn’t your classic number nine.

He is more of a shadow striker – or even a number 10 – and Arsenal badly need one of these.

With Martin Odegaard probably not returning after his half-season loan at the Emirates Stadium, those on the red half of the North London divide desperately need a creative spark.

Tottenham could probably do with one too – particularly if Harry Kane leaves, with the Spurs hitman also something of a wizard in terms of creation – but Arsenal may just need Correa that bit more.
