Spanish outlet La Vanguardia claim that Arsenal and Tottenham are ahead of Bayern Munich in the race to sign Ansu Fati from Barcelona in the summer – with the player going from ‘non-transferable’ to a fringe player at the Nou Camp.
Seven-time Spain star Fati, 20, came into the season having played 58 times for Barca – having a hand in 25 goals. But this season, Fati has played 31 times – scoring six goals and laying on three assists. Of 31 games, he has started nine.
So, Fati has become a possible sale. Barcelona need to cash in on a player or two this summer and take in some cash, in order to comply with Financial Fairplay. Fati could be allowed to go, having become a fringe player under boss Xavi.
The winger, who has a release clause worth £888million – or, €1billion – has a deal until 2027. The report states that the ‘great jewel’ of Barcelona could now be allowed to go. Tottenham and Arsenal are keen. Bayern too, though less so.

Arsenal and Tottenham ahead of Bayern in race to sign Barcelona’s Fati
It is unclear how much clubs would have to pay to sign Fati. A player given the no.10 shirt after Lionel Messi’s move to PSG, given just how big Barcelona thought the Spain star would become at the Nou Camp. But he has gone backwards.
There is still enormous potential there and if either North London club were to move for Fati, it would still be incredibly expensive. But, there is certainly a growing chance that Barcelona may be forced into the sale of the La Masia product.
Arsenal have lessened the need for additions out wide. They have Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and now, Leandro Trossard. Emile Smith-Rowe and Reiss Nelson’s futures are in doubt. Spurs have signed Arnaut Danjuma, but on loan.
So, both North London sides may feel the need to bring in another wide man come the end of the season. But, it might be that Fati is one of the most-expensive transfers in the next window. Time will tell if Barcelona do allow him to leave.
