Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing up moves for both Jannick Vestergaard and Milan Skriniar this summer, the Daily Express claim.

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho appears to have made strengthening his backline in the next transfer window one of his priorities, after failing to find a reliable pairing this term.

Tottenham have used Joe Rodon, Japhet Tanganga, Davinson Sanchez, Toby Alderweireld and Eric Dier in the heart of their defence, but question marks linger over all five of them.

Tottenham now seem to be making plans of the summer, and the Express say that Vestergaard is being ‘fast-tracked’ as a target.

Spurs want to step up their bid for the Southampton man, and hope to secure him for around £18 million.

Vestergaard has indeed had an impressive season in the Premier League, with Martin Keown labelling him as ‘brilliant (TalkSPORT), and his aerial prowess would surely aid Tottenham.

Perhaps even more appealingly, Spurs will also go back in for Skriniar, the report claims.

The Inter Milan defender was high up on Tottenham’s wishlist last year, but Daniel Levy was unable to get a deal over the line.

Skriniar has since had an impressive season with Inter, but Tottenham retain an interest and for £25 million could reportedly be purchased.

That is a significant discount on what he was valued at last summer, with Inter then putting a £50 million price-tag on their centre-back, according to Fabrizo Romano on the Here We Go Podcast.

Spurs still feel that the transfer could be difficult to complete, but with Vestergaard also being eyed, the club now have back-up plans if they are unable to sign the Slovakian for a second time.
