Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly planning for life after some of their academy products.
According to a report from the London Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino and chairman Daniel Levy are planning on giving their youth players more exposure, not only to ensure they can make it at the highest level but also to increase any sell-on value for those who fall short.
Tottenham take on Liverpool in the fourth round of the EFL Cup this evening with the North London club expected to give some of their next generation another chance to impress.
However, the Standard claims the Tottenham hierarchy are already thinking about making money on those who do not make the grade at White Hart Lane.
The likes of Marcus Edwards, Harry Winks and Cameron Carter-Vickers look set for very bright futures at the club. But as with any side, there are always going to be those who ultimately move on in pursuit of regular first-team football.
Some of those could be on show for Tottenham at Anfield, if only from the bench, and it will be interesting to see just how seriously Pochettino takes this competition given that Spurs are also fighting hard in the Premier League and in Europe.
As much as Tottenham are praised for always thinking ahead and building a squad for the future, it seems they are also ensuring they get the most money possible for those ultimately deemed surplus to requirements in North London.
