Tottenham Hotspur continue to pursue Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.

According to a new report from L’Equipe this evening, Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement on a fee for Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.
Spurs have been pursuing Ndombele for much of the summer so far, with Tottenham seemingly viewing him as an ideal replacement for Mousa Dembele.
Over the last week, a move has progressed closer and closer amid talks between the two clubs, but Tottenham hadn’t actually struck a deal with Lyon’s difficult president Jean-Michel Aulas.
Now though, it’s believed that Spurs have agreed to pay €72million (£64million), of which €62million (£55million) will be paid up front, and the rest in instalments.
That’s hugely positive news, but there are conflicting reports emerging from France about Ndombele’s contract situation with Tottenham.
L’Equipe – as noted and translated by Get French Football News – that personal terms haven’t actually been agreed between Spurs and Ndombele, meaning that there is still a window of opportunity for another club, with Manchester United named as a potential ‘surprise’ late bidder, but they’re struggling whilst Paul Pogba is still at the club.

Tottenham will hope there is no holding out from Ndombele, and Telefoot report that Ndombele has actually agreed a five-year deal with Spurs already, and was just waiting for a fee to be agreed.
Either way, Spurs do appear to be closing in on Ndombele having agreed a club-record fee, but those conflicting contract reports means some fans won’t be celebrating just yet.
