Ben Davies has made just seven Premier League starts for Tottenham Hotspur this season, but is still set to be rewarded with a new deal.

A report in The Sun has suggested that Ben Davies is set to be rewarded for his recent form by being handed a new £60,000-a-week deal by Tottenham Hotspur.

Davies currently has just over two years left on his contract at White Hart Lane, but The Sun suggests that Spurs are about to put a new four-year contract on the table in an attempt to make the Welshman the latest member of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad to commit his future to the club.

The likes of Harry Kane, Hugo Lloris and Dele Alli have done so recently, while The Sun adds that Toby Alderweireld is also on the verge of putting pen to paper.

While it is no surprise that Spurs have looked to secure those players’ futures, it may perhaps be slightly more surprising to some that Davies is set to join them on such lucrative terms.

The 23-year-old has been Danny Rose’s understudy for much of his time at White Hart Lane, and has only enjoyed a run in the team of late due to Rose picking up an injury.

Having said that, Davies has grabbed his opportunity with both hands, having impressed in the wins against Stoke and against Everton on Sunday, and has proven that Pochettino can rely upon him to fill the void if Rose is out of the team in future.

And with Tottenham looking to take that leap from top four favourites into genuine title contenders, having the depth they boast at left-back right across the pitch could go a long way to taking them to the next level.
