The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has proven to be an unlikely hero for Mauricio Pochettino’s side this season.
According to a report from the Sun, Moussa Sissoko could return to action earlier than was first expected, with Thursday’s Carabao Cup semi-final clash with Chelsea a genuine possibility for the Frenchman.
The 29-year-old Spurs man limped off against Manchester United last weekend with a groin injury, and was initially expected to be unavailable for selection for around a month.
Tottenham have every chance of winning their first major trophy since 2008 this season, but a recent spate of injuries has threatened to derail their chances of doing just that.
So having Sissoko back as soon as possible will be vitally important for them.
The Sun claims that that is exactly what could happen, with next week’s clash with Chelsea pencilled in as a realistic return date for the France international.
Tottenham head into the game against the Blues with a one goal advantage, and Mauricio Pochettino will need all hands on deck, if his side are to have any chance whatsoever of reaching the final of the competition.
And should Sissoko return next week, it would be a quite remarkable recovery from the 29-year-old.
