According to The Sun, Chelsea are keen to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies in a deal potentially worth more than £20m.
The Blues swooped to bring in two defenders at the end of the transfer window as centre back David Luiz and left back Marcos Alonso arrived from Paris Saint-Germain and Fiorentina respectively.

However, Chelsea’s defence still looked shaky in the 2-1 defeat to Liverpool on Friday night though, and manager Antonio Conte may look to strengthen his options at the back in the coming months.
Now, The Sun report that Chelsea are keen on a shock raid on their London rivals Tottenham, with Ben Davies their newest alleged transfer target.

Davies, 23, joined Spurs from Swansea City back in the summer of 2014, but has spent most of his time as a backup to Tottenham’s first-choice left back Danny Rose under Mauricio Pochettino.
However, it’s stated that Conte wants Davies at Stamford Bridge, as his performances for Wales at Euro 2016 showed that he can play on the left hand side of back three – a system Conte would like to implement in West London having done so with Juventus and Italy.
Davies hasn’t played at centre back for Spurs, but his displays at Euro 2016 showed why Conte sees him in such a role, and the Blues could now test Tottenham’s resolve with a deal worth at least £20m in the January transfer window.

Whether Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is willing to sell is a different matter though. Tensions flared between the two clubs when they faced each other at Stamford Bridge back in May, with a real rivalry sparked between the two clubs.
The Mirror claimed in July that the relations between the two clubs are so bad that Levy wouldn’t even entertain any offers from the Blues, meaning any deal for Davies could be difficult to pull off for Conte’s men.
Do you think Spurs should sell Davies for over £20m, even if it’s to Chelsea?
