Manchester City are reportedly refusing to sell defender Tosin Adarabioyo this month.

According to The Guardian, Manchester City have no intention of allowing defender Tosin Adarabioyo to leave the club this month despite interest from Celtic and Everton.

Adarabioyo,19, was born in Manchester and joined his hometown club at the age of just five, and has been coming up through the ranks with City ever since.

The giant centre back, who stands at a whopping 6ft 5in tall, made his first-team debut in an FA Cup tie against Chelsea last season, and has featured three times this term under Pep Guardiola.

However, his contract with City is due to expire in the summer, and having so far refused to sign a new deal, clubs are looking to land the teenage contract rebel before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

The Guardian report that Celtic and Everton are both keen to land Adarabioyo, but City are refusing to sell the centre back this month, in the hope that they can convince him to sign a new contract before the end of the season.

Celtic have a great relationship with City having taken Jason Denayer, John Guidetti and Patrick Roberts on loan in recent years, whilst they even bought Dedryck Boyata, and they may have been hoping to use that rapport to help them land Adarabioyo.

Meanwhile, Everton have a number of ageing defenders in their squad, including Phil Jagielka and Ashley Williams, meaning Ronald Koeman – a former defender himself – may be hoping to land a younger centre back to develop, and Adarabioyo fits the bill.

However, City are reportedly refusing to let Adarabioyo leave before Tuesday’s deadline, and whilst they’re due compensation should he walk away at the end of the season, that value would be considerable smaller if he leaves for Celtic, due to cross-border contract regulations.
