Report: Torres already facing AC Milan crisis point

There are Italian press reports that Fernando Torres is already approaching a crucial crossroads in his AC Milan career.

Fernando Torres hasn’t made the ideal start to life at AC Milan and the pressure seems to be building on him to step up to the mark.

If the Spanish striker thought leaving Chelsea for San Siro would see a reduction in expectations, then he was sadly mistaken.

Since arriving on a two-year loan to a fanfare of excitement, Torres’s every move at Milan has been scrutinised and he is yet to impress in Serie A.

With one goal in 246 minutes of action, Torres hasn’t made a very convincing case for coach Pippo Inzaghi sticking with him in his attacking trident.

The Italian press criticised Torres for his performance against Chievo. While his side ran out 2-0 victors, he was accused of being ‘isolated’, ‘off the pace’ and ‘distanced from the rest of his teammates’.

Torres doesn’t appear to have an obvious excuse. He is physically fit and being utilised in a familiar role, one that he has played at Chelsea and Liverpool.

It is suggested that Inzaghi may already be losing faith in Torres and could start to see him as someone to release from the bench later on in games – a role that he will almost certainly loathe.

However, La Gazzetta dello Sport still expects Torres to start alongside Keisuke Honda and Jeremy Menez for the away trip to Verona on October 19. There will be significant pressure on Torres to make his mark.
