Newcastle United reportedly wanted the Torino star in the summer.

The 23-year-old has been linked with a move away from Newcastle for a while now and leaving in January doesn’t seem unlikely.
But if the Magpies are willing to do business, should they ask Torino for Afriyie Acquah and cash for the out-of-favour Serbian striker?

Ghanasoccernet reported in the summer that Rafael Benitez wanted to sign the £8 million midfielder, who later claimed that he was 90% sure he was going to join an English club.
But a departure from Turin never materialised and the fact that Acquah has only started two games all season suggests that the Italian side might be willing to let him go.

The 25-year-old Ghanian is a defensive midfielder and Benitez did not wind up signing anybody of that ilk after a move for Andreas Samaris broke down.
And baiting Torino with Mitrovic might be an ideal way for the Spanish manager to get his man.
