West Ham were linked with a move for defender Izzo last month.

Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed Serie A side Torino are close to completing a move to sign Genoa defender Armando Izzo – despite being linked to West Ham United last month.
Italian outlet Secolo XIX claimed last month that West Ham were keen on signing the 26-year-old after an excellent campaign in Serie A with Genoa. A fee of £12million was touted for the uncapped Italian.

However, Di Marzio has now reported that the former Napoli and Avellino defender is set to move to Torino, who finished three places above Genoa in ninth in the Serie A table last season.

It is believed that Torino are set to clinch a deal worth around £8.8million, far cheaper than the initial fee West Ham were reportedly interested in paying to land the centre-back.

West Ham’s interest may have subsided in Izzo somewhat after Manuel Pellegrini completed a club-record deal to sign French wonderkid Issa Diop from Ligue 1 side Toulouse, after the centre-back captained the side at just 21.
Now, the Hammers are set to miss out on Izzo unless than make an eleventh-hour bid, with Torino set to beat the east Londoners to the punch for Izzo’s signature.
