Report: ‘Top quality’ Arsenal player does u-turn over his future and now may leave in January

Mesut Ozil will finally seek a move away from Arsenal in January after being left out of their Premier League squad, the Daily Star suggest.

Ozil won’t play for Arsenal until January at the very earliest, after Mikel Arteta decided against putting the German playmaker in his side’s 25-man squad for the league.

Ozil has always wanted to stay and fight for his place at Arsenal before, as reported by the London Evening Standard.

But it seems that this latest blow has the 32-year-old, who was described as ‘top quality’ by Arsene Wenger (Arsenal’s website), finally considering moving on.

The Arsenal man is wanted by teams in MLS, with DC United among the leading contenders to sign him.

Any club who does choose to buy Ozil will have to fund a way to fund his exorbitant wages, which has proved problematic for potential suitors before.

But, with Ozil set to be starved of first-team football, it could be that the Arsenal man will now be willing to accept a pay cut.

Arsenal are yet to really find a like-for-like replacement for Ozil, but Arteta obviously feels that his side still have enough creative options to cope, even without the World Cup winning conductor.
