Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Gedson Fernandes could be omitted from his side’s Europa League squad, the Telegraph report.
Tottenham can only name 17 non-homegrown in their European squad this season, and that apparently leaves Fernandes at risk of missing out.
The Portuguese midfielder, who was hailed as a ‘top player’ by Harry Winks (Telegraph), only joined Spurs in January, but he has struggled to establish a place in their starting line-up.
Fernandes has played across a range of positions, including at full-back, and has shown flashes of quality – but failed to really deliver a consistent performance.
While the 21-year-old is a capable dribbler and possesses decent speed – his defensive discipline has been lacking, as has his passing range.

Tottenham have strengthened in midfield following the arrival of Pierre Emile Hojbjerg this summer, and Jose Mourinho now seems to be looking at other options.
Fernandes has made just one appearance for Spurs, and if he was left out of their Europa League squad it would be another blow to the Benfica loanee’s chances of making the grade in North London.
