West Bromwich Albion defender Jonny Evans is attracting Leicester City’s attention.
According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Tony Pulis is considering handing Jonny Evans the West Brom captaincy in an attempt to convince him to stay at the Hawthorns amid interest from one of their Premier League rivals.
The Mirror reports that Leicester want to sign Evans, and are preparing a second offer for the former Manchester United defender after seeing their £10 million offer rejected earlier in the window.

The Baggies however, are desperate to keep the Northern Ireland international at the club, with the Mirror suggesting that they are prepared to hand Evans a new contract worth £100,000 a week.
In addition to that, the Mirror adds that the 29-year-old – who has two years left on his current deal – could well be offered the chance to succeed Darren Fletcher as the club’s captain following the midfielder’s departure for Stoke City during this window.
Given the lack of options within the West Brom squad currently, it would undoubtedly be a major blow if Evans did make it clear that he wished to move on this summer.
Pulis will probably be looking to oversee a number of signings during the coming months, so keeping the more consistent and reliable members of the squad around, and happy, during this period of transition may perhaps be vital, so it is hardly a surprise that keeping Evans appears to be a priority for the Baggies.
