Glasgow Rangers are yet to appoint a permanent manager, so could Tony Pulis be the man to end up at Ibrox?

According to a report from the Daily Mirror, the level of support regarding a Tony Pulis appointment at Rangers is growing amongst the Ibrox hierarchy – and the former West Brom boss would be interested in considering a move to the Scottish Premiership.

The Gers are yet to make a permanent appointment following Pedro Caixinha’s departure back in October. Graeme Murty has been in interim charge since then, but it did appear that his second spell as caretaker would end recently when Derek McInnes became heavily linked with the post.

McInnes would ultimately decide to stay at Aberdeen, and that prompted the Rangers board to confirm that Murty will stay in charge until the end of the calendar year at least.

Interestingly, the Mirror’s report regarding Pulis’ future suggests that that decision may play perfectly into his hands if he wants to be the man tasked with trying to catch Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic.

According to the Mirror, Pulis has his admirers amongst the Rangers hierarchy, and it just appears that there may be scope to do a potential deal, with the 59-year-old willing to consider heading to Scotland – though he does not want to get back into football until after Christmas.

If Rangers are keen on appointing Pulis, that would be the ideal scenario as it would mean that the Gers would not have to change their plans regarding how long Murty is in charge for, and would still give the Welshman more than enough time to settle in as he would presumably arrive during Scotland’s winter break.

How the Rangers fans would feel about a Pulis appointment remains to be seen if it does happen, but given his experience, it would be no surprise if a number of supporters were encouraged by the potential links.
