Chelsea will loan Tomas Kalas out once again this summer with Fulham and Hull City potential destinations.
In the seven years since joining Chelsea from Czech outfit Sigma Olomouc, Tomas Kalas has featured just twice in the Premier League.
If his inspired performance in that infamous 2-0 win at Anfield in April 2014 which all-but ended Liverpool’s title hopes was supposed to belatedly kick-start an impressive career in blue, he will have been left disappointed.
Kalas enjoyed arguably the finest season of his career at Fulham
A year at Koln, two at Middlesbrough and one at Fulham, the towering Czech centre-back is a long-serving soldier in Chelsea’s loaned-out legion. And, at the age of 24, it appears that Kalas is set for yet another temporary switch.
Goal reports that the defender will be sent out on loan again by the Premier League champions next season. His contract was due to expire at the end of next season but he will now be handed a new deal at Stamford Bridge before embarking on another campaign away from the club.
Ful of hope
Hull City were reported to be interested, Kalas’ excellent performances for high-flying Fulham last season perhaps suggesting that he would be an astute replacement for Leicester City-bound Harry Maguire. Managed by former Russia boss Leonid Slutsky, his close relationship with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich looked to have given The Tigers an advantage.
Fulham would surely welcome Kalas back with open arms despite the addition of centre-back Marcelo Djalo from Lugo.
However, this news won’t go down too well at Hull, who have endured a frustrating summer and missed out on another highly-rated Premier League centre-back, Everton’s Matthew Pennington, who recently joined Leeds on loan instead.
