Scottish centre back Tom Lang is set to join Rangers despite interest from Aston Villa.
According to The Sun, Rangers are poised to complete the signing of Scottish defender Tom Lang, fending off interest from Aston Villa.
Rangers have already landed two centre backs this summer in Danny Wilson and Rob Kiernan, but new manager Mark Warburton now looks set to add another one in Lang.
The 18-year-old is a free agent having left Birmingham City, and looks set to return to his native Scotland having impressed during a trial with Rangers.
The Scottish Sun report that the teenager is poised to sign a one-year contract with Rangers, rejecting interest from the likes of Aberdeen and Aston Villa in the process.
Lang is no doubt one for the future at Rangers, and he now has the chance to prove that he deserves a longer stay beyond his one-year contract.
Bright future, ideal manager
Under Stuart McCall last season, Rangers saw a umber of young players impress; the likes of Andy Murdoch, Tom Walsh and Ryan Hardie all came into the side and flashed their ability.
Now, Lang is set to join that base of young players at Ibrox, and fortunately for all of them, they have the perfect manager to develop under.
Warburton prefers to work with young players and help them develop, so whilst Lang’s arrival won’t grab the headlines like Wilson or Kiernan did last week, he could well become a first team player under Warburton.
