Aston Villa’s hopes of landing Tom Heaton may have taken a boost.

According to the Birmingham Mail, Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton has told people close to him that he will be leaving in January, and is waiting for offers.
Former Manchester United stopper Heaton became a Premier League star and England international with Burnley, emerging as a superb goalkeeper.
However, he suffered a major shoulder injury in September 2017, forcing him to miss the World Cup as he lost his place for club and country to Nick Pope.
Heaton is back this season but saw Burnley sign Joe Hart as their new first-choice goalkeeper, meaning the 32-year-old is sat on the sidelines at Turf Moor.
Now though, the Birmingham Mail report that Heaton has decided that he wants to move on in January, and is waiting for offers to come in ahead of the transfer window.

A number of clubs are bound to be keen on Heaton, but the report notes Aston Villa’s interest, and they will be major boosted by claims that the goalkeeper has already made his mind up about leaving in January.
With Orjan Nyland unconvincing between the sticks, a bid for Heaton could solve Villa’s goalkeeping problems, and give Dean Smith exactly what he needs to launch a real promotion challenge.
