Aston Villa are really pushing for Tom Heaton’s signature.

According to The Mirror, Aston Villa could complete their move for Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton by the end of the week as Dean Smith closes in.
Heaton, 33, was a star for Burnley in the 2016-17 season, earning England recognition, before a major injury limited him to just four appearances in the 2017-18 campaign.
The goalkeeper did return to action last season, making 22 appearances, but Burnley handing a new long-term deal to Nick Pope has left many wondering whether Heaton will be moving on.
It’s now claimed that Villa have slapped in a bid for Heaton, and a move could be completed by the end of the week as a move seemingly gets closer and closer.
Despite the performances of Jed Steer towards the end of last season, Villa boss Smith clearly feels that another goalkeeper is needed, and preferably an experienced one.
Over the last year, Villa have brought in a host of foreign goalkeepers. Orjan Nyland, Andre Moreira and Lovre Kalinic have all joined, enjoying limited success at Villa Park.

Villa now appear to be taking a different approach, instead going for an experienced, proven Premier League goalkeeper in Heaton, and it’s hard to argue against that approach.
Having a calming influence in goal in Heaton should solidify the Villa defence, and that will be absolutely key if Villa are to stay in the Premier League – even if they end up needing another goalkeeper in a few years due to Heaton’s age.
