Tottenham Hotspur defender, Toby Alderweireld, reportedly wants a release clause to be inserted into his contract, if he signs a new deal.
According to reports from The Times, the Belgian defender has twice rejected a new contract offer, and his agent has not held any recent talks with the north London club.
Alderweireld, who has enjoyed an outstanding season with Spurs, is reportedly attracting interest from Premier League rivals, Manchester City. Pep Guardiola has set his eyes on Tottenham’s England right-back, Kyle Walker, as well.

The Belgian has a contract at Spurs till 2019. Tottenham have an option to extend the deal by a further season.
However, should they do so, the defender has the right to insert a €30 million (£25.3 million) release clause that can be activated from that year.
Tottenham have reportedly rejected his demands of such a clause. As it stands, contract talks have reached an impasse between the player and the club.
The 28-year-old earns around £53,000 a week, according to The Times, and is fully aware that he can double his wages should he move to Manchester City or any other heavyweight European club.
Alderweireld is a key player for Spurs, and the club will definitely try their best to come to a solution at the earliest.
