Atletico Madrid are reportedly eyeing Manchester City star Gabriel Jesus as a long-term replacement for Luis Suarez, who is set to leave the reigning La Liga champions this summer.
According to Sport, the Brazilian international is an option for the Spanish giants, with Jesus’ future at City questionable with Pep Guardiola’s side looking to sign a striker this summer and the forward yet to pen a new contract with the club.
A £27m signing in 2016 according to Sky Sports News, Jesus has been a regular for City since arriving from Brazil six years ago, however, Atletico’s interest in the Premier League attacker could be tempting for the 24-year-old forward.
With Liverpool icon Suarez set to leave Atletico, Jesus’ style could be ideal for Diego Simeone, with the Madrid-based club looking for new options to lead the line next season following the departure of the Uruguayan international.
Moreover, as per the report, City are open to selling Jesus this summer. After all, a striker is said to be the club’s main target for the transfer window, with links to Erling Haaland and Harry Kane intensifying in recent weeks.
And Jesus could be the fall guy if City were to make a move for either player, with the forward’s contract running out soon and Atletico’s interest given the Manchester giants the excuse needed to sell the Brazilian international in the summer transfer window.
City star Jesus could be perfect to replace Suarez at Atletico

Replacing a striker as potent as Suarez will be no mean feat, yet Jesus could be an ideal option for Atletico given his experience for both City in the Premier League and Europe and with Brazil playing alongside the likes of Neymar and Roberto Firmino.
Indeed, Jesus’ skillset makes him ideal for La Liga, and with Atletico eyeing the striker, City could afford to let the South American leave for a decent fee in the summer, with the Spanish side keen for new firepower up top to replace Suarez.
