According to SPORT, Martin Odegaard does not want to return to Real Madrid if Zinedine Zidane remains in charge at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Spanish news outlet state that the Norway international wanted to spend another season with Real Sociedad, but Zidane made him come back to Real Madrid over the summer.

Then, the Frenchman barely used the 22-year-old, handing him just three La Liga starts this term.

Luckily for Odegaard, SPORT add that Zidane will not force the former Stromsgodset maestro to come back if he doesn’t want to this time.

In turn, Real Madrid will consider selling the man they paid £2.3 million for, on the condition that a good offer arrives.

This should pique the interest of Mikel Arteta.

As covered by the Evening Standard, the Spaniard has already hinted that he would like the Norwegian to stay at the Emirates beyond his loan spell.

Usually, it is a matter of convincing the player and his club to come to the negotiating table, before any finances are agreed.

However, such is the bad blood between Odegaard and Zidane, it seems like Arsenal will be able to go straight to talking money with the La Liga champions.

That is, if they do still want to sign the midfield maestro in the summer.
