Wolverhampton Wanderers could be offered the chance to sign Daniele Rugani or Adrien Rabiot from Juventus, but only if they are willing to let Raul Jimenez leave for Turin as part of the deal, according to Tuttosport.
The Serie A champions are no fools. They are fully aware that a deal to bring the £45 million-rated Premier League striker to Italy is going to be easier said than done in a strained and uncertain market.
Juventus, then, will have to think outside the box. And Tuttosport suggest that a plan has indeed been hatched. One which, in theory, would see Maurizio Sarri’s side land one of the hottest strikers in Europe while getting one of two high-earning bench-warmers out the door at the very same time.
The report claims that Juventus could offer Rabiot or Rugani in exchange for Jimenez.
Rabiot, a £115,000-a-week France international who won five Ligue 1 titles at PSG, has struggled to establish himself under Maurizio Sarri in Turin. He is valued at around £25 million.
Rugani, meanwhile, is one of the most promising centre-halves on the planet, but it is about time he got the first-team football he needs at the age of 25. The seven-capped Italian – Juventus’s answer to perennial Real Madrid Nacho Fernandez – has made just three Serie A starts all season long.
The £22 million-rated Rugani looks a perfect fit for Nuno’s favoured three-man defence at Molineux, while Rabiot’s mix of technical and physical gifts could see him forge a formidable partnership with Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho.
But Wolves would have to let their 22-goal top-scorer go to get Rabiot and Rugani, neither of whom would be anything like like a ready-made replacement, in return. Don’t hold your breath, then.
