According to The Telegraph, Burnley and Brighton are challenging Southampton for the signing of Tottenham Hotspur talent Ryan Sessegnon.

It’s claimed that Jose Mourinho is now considering loaning Sessegnon out, having snapped up Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid earlier this month.

£25m ace Sessegnon hasn’t been in the Tottenham squad for a Premier League game this season, and Reguilon’s arrival only makes playing time more difficult.

Brighton and Burnley are now keen to take Sessegnon on loan, whilst Southampton are also interested – and much will come down to the role he plays.

At Brighton, he would be able to compete with Solly March as a left-wing back in Graham Potter’s 3-5-2 system, which could be ideal for Sessegnon.

Burnley would likely use him as a left-sided winger in a 4-4-2, whilst the same goes for Southampton given that Ryan Bertrand is a mainstay at left back.

Ajax are interested too according to this report, which could be a fascinating move given their reputation for developing young players.

Tottenham do need to clear some numbers, and getting Sessegnon some first-team football could be perfect after a frustrating season last term.
