According to The Athletic, three Premier League clubs are interested in signing Steven Bergwijn this summer.
The Dutch winger is seemingly on his way out of Tottenham Hotspur, and while a move to Ajax has been touted for quite some time, it seems as though a domestic move could also be on the cards for the attacker.
The Athletic state that if this move to Ajax drags on for any longer, Bergwijn will consider staying in England.
The article claims that Everton are amongst the interested parties, while two other unnamed Premier League sides are also keen.
Antonio Conte is reportedly a big fan of Bergwijn, but with competition so hot for a place in Spurs’ attack, the Italian is resigned to the fact that the Dutchman will be leaving north London this summer.
We don’t know who the two other clubs are, but it is worth noting that both Manchester United and Arsenal have been linked in recent months, so those two are certainly ones to watch.
Of course, a move to Arsenal or United seems rather unrealistic for a player who has barely been getting a game for Spurs, and with Everton one of the interested teams, the reality is that Bergwijn may be moving to another mid-table side rather than one of the big six.
Bergwijn’s time at Tottenham hasn’t quite worked out the way that anyone had hoped, but luckily, he may get a second chance of proving his Premier League chops with another team this season.
