Arsenal remain in the hunt for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot and the Italian press believe that there are three possible outcomes.
Contract rebel Adrien Rabiot has been cut out of the Paris Saint-Germain squad despite his obvious talent, but he has no shortage of options.
The gifted midfielder is refusing to sign a new deal and threatening to run down his current contract, which expires next summer, so he can leave for free.
Arsenal have been tracking Rabiot for some time and Arsene Wenger has reportedly attempted to persuade the 19-year-old that the Gunners are the club to join.
However, there is definite interest in Italy from Juventus and Roma and it has been suggested that Serie A may be a more appealing option at this stage of Rabiot’s career.
The least likely is that Rabiot is brought back into the fold and signs a new deal with PSG, ending any chance of a transfer.
The second is that he is sold in January so that PSG avoid losing him for free. In that case Arsenal have the advantage over Juventus and Roma because they have greater financial clout and can pay better wages.
However, the third option is that Rabiot languishes in the reserves for the whole season and becomes available as a free agent in June. While Arsenal would still be able to offer a more lucrative deal, the North London club may have found new targets and Juventus and Roma wouldn’t have to worry about finding a transfer fee.
Whichever way, Rabiot is looking increasingly likely to need a new club and there is likely to be a tussle for his signature.
