Liverpool have a potentially season-defining game away to Manchester United on Sunday.

As of now, Liverpool are sixth in the Premier League table and four points adrift of Chelsea who lead the way for the last Champions League qualification spot.

If Chelsea beat Fulham at Stamford Bridge on Saturday and Jurgen Klopp’s side lose at Old Trafford, the gap from the top four will be seven points with four games to go.

In short, it’s absolutely vital that Liverpool beat Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side but there’s a few potential injury problems.

According to The Echo, Nat Phillips sat out training again on Wednesday and his participation seems in doubt.

The report also added that Xherdan Shaqiri – who’s made every squad since December – and Divock Origi were also absent from the Axa Training Centre yesterday.

The Phillips one is a major blow if he’s unavailable.

Not only is Phillips a very capable centre-back, as he has proven this season, but his absence would most probably lead to Fabinho dropping into the back four.

And considering how important the big Brazilian is in midfield, and with Jordan Henderson already out, the last thing Liverpool need is to start playing the former Monaco powerhouse as a centre-back again.

The problem isn’t that Fabinho is a poor centre-half because he certainly isn’t, but Klopp’s midfield is simply much less effective without the Brazil international in there.

But time will tell whether Phillips is fit enough to make the trip to Old Trafford on Sunday evening.
