Everton reportedly missed out on Thomas Tuchel after sacking Ronald Koeman.

According to a report from German magazine SportBILD, Thomas Tuchel turned down the chance to manage Everton earlier this season, as he wants to return to management with an elite club.
The Toffees had high expectations entering the season, but sacked former boss Ronald Koeman back in October after a disastrous opening to the campaign, eventually bringing in Sam Allardyce as his replacement.
Now though, it’s claimed that Everton first held talks with German boss Thomas Tuchel in an ambitious attempt to lure him to Goodison Park, but were ultimately snubbed by the former Borussia Dortmund manager.

It’s claimed that Tuchel only wants to come back to management with a top club, and seemingly felt that Everton were a little beneath his ambitions at this stage in his career.
Summer approach would be for nothing
Tuchel, 44, earned a strong reputation for himself at Mainz and then Dortmund, boasting a 63% win rate with the latter as he impressed following Jurgen Klopp’s departure in 2015.

An internal power struggle resulted in Tuchel’s exit last summer, and whilst Allardyce’s recent brand of football and results may lead Everton to consider replacing him already this summer, a new move for Tuchel may fall on deaf ears again.
Everton are currently looking unlikely to break into the top seven, and even if they do, it would be some way behind the top six, failing to give Tuchel the ‘top club’ he is looking for.
With Bayern Munich potentially keen given Jupp Heynckes’ impending exit, Everton would surely be fighting a losing battle – and Farhad Moshiri would be wise to look elsewhere and give up on Tuchel, unless he indicates a willingness to change his stance.
