Tottenham Hotspur are concerned by Real Madrid’s interest in Mauricio Pochettino, the Daily Mail report.
Tottenham have seemingly made Pochettino their first choice target to takeover from Jose Mourinho, and have tried to tie up a deal to bring the PSG boss back to North London in recent days.
Spurs have held a meeting with Pochettino, where he stated he would be keen on taking the job again.
However, any deal is looking more and more complicated, according to the Mail’s latest update.
They say that Madrid have made Pochettino their first choice too, and there is a feeling around Tottenham that could be a ‘game changer’.
Pochettino’s dream job is the Madrid one, and he may be hard pushed to turn it down if the possibility did arise.
The end or still hope?
Tottenham are still said to be remain hopeful, but any deal looks even more complicated than it did before now.

That may leave Tottenham having to look at other targets on their list.
In terms of names the Mail suggest that Erik ten Hag and Antonio Conte are the two other most realistic candidates, which has also been reported elsewhere.
If Pochettino’s appointment now doesn’t materialise that may disappointment many Spurs fans, who were excited over the potential fairytale comeback.
Pochettino’s first stint at Tottenham was highly impressive and if he could have a similar impact again, it may save a side who appear to have gone backwards since his departure in 2019.
