Jordan Henderson was heard shouting ‘you’re joking’ by those close to him, as he went down injured against Everton in the Merseyside derby, the Athletic suggest.
Liverpool have suffered terribly with injury this season, and it seems that Henderson could not believe it when he was struck with a problem.
The England international hurt his groin against Everton, and it seems that the problem could now rule him out for six weeks.
Henderson’s initial reaction was one of extreme frustration and he even re-entered the field to try and run the problem off.
Unfortunately there was no chance of that happening, and Henderson was quickly down again and receiving treatment.
In his absence Jurgen Klopp’s side will have to continue to muddle through their next game, as they search for the winning formula again.
Liverpool have slipped down the table in recent weeks, with their top four credentials coming into question.
And with Henderson now out, their task of breaking back into the Champions League spots has only become more difficult.
