Emmanuel Adebayor did not move from Tottenham Hotspur to West Ham United due to a stadium grudge according to new reports.
According to a report in the Independent, Emmanuel Adebayor’s proposed move from Tottenham Hotspur to West Ham United was blocked due to a grudge regarding the Olympic Stadium.
The report claims Spurs chairman Daniel Levy refused to pay any of the Togo international’s wages if he moved to Upton Park due to ill-feeling regarding a previous row over which club would occupy the Olympic Stadium.
The report claims Adebayor favoured a move to West Ham but that Levy would only contribute towards the player’s wages if he moved elsewhere.
Rumours throughout transfer deadline day had suggested the Tottenham forward was set for a late switch but instead he will spend the rest of the season at White Hart Lane, competing with Harry Kane and Roberto Soldado for a starting spot at the club.
Adebayor has scored 42 goals in 111 appearances for Spurs but he has only found the net twice in 15 matches this season.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for a player who could have done a great job for West Ham if he could have replicated the form that he showed in the second half of last season.
