Mundo Deportivo have claimed today that Everton are still interested in signing Barcelona’s Jean-Clair Todibo.

The Frenchman is currently on loan at Schalke where he has had an impressive season so far. Sport claimed in April that the Toffees were close to signing Todibo but there has been no confirmation yet.

The likes of AS Roma and Schalke themselves have been credited with an interest in the young defender which was initially viewed as a blow to the Toffees’ chances of signing him.

However, Mundo Deportivo’s revelation today will fill Everton supporters with a ton of confidence about sealing a deal for Todibo this summer.

The report says that the Toffees are battling Roma for his signature but Barcelona view Everton as a ‘VIP client’ thanks to their previous transfer business over the years.

The Toffees signed Gerard Deulofeu, André Gomes, Yerry Mina and Lucas Digne from the Spanish champions in recent years.

Digne and Gomes have both been success stories at Goodison Park so far and there is no reason why Todibo won’t be one.

Agreeing a deal for Todibo would be their fifth signing of a Barcelona player in five years.

That shows an excellent relationship between the two sides and Marcel Brands will be counting on the same to strike a deal for the Frenchman in the coming weeks and months.
