According to the London Evening Standard, Oliver Skipp has suffered an injury setback.

The midfielder has been out of action for quite some time now with a pelvis injury, and sadly, it seems as though he’s not having any luck at all on that front.

Antonio Conte claimed last week that Skipp was close to returning, while he hoped to have him back in full training by the end of this week.

However, after reporting soreness this week, Skipp has been sent back to do indoor training, and while we’re yet to discover the severity of this setback, the Evening Standard claim that he certainly won’t be playing against Aston Villa at the weekend.

Luckily for Spurs, they shouldn’t miss Skipp too much for the game against Villa. They’re in red-hot form at the moment and the pairing of Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg seem to have found their feet in the Premier League.

Of course, this is a blow for Skipp. The midfielder has barely had a chance to play under Antonio Conte, and after a solid season to date, the ‘tenacious’ midfielder may end up struggling to break back into the side of Bentancur and Hojbjerg keep up their good form.

For Tottenham, at this stage, results are all that matters, but the fact that Skipp remains sidelined certainly isn’t good news for his long-term development.

Fingers crossed Skipp will be back fit before too long.
