Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are now reportedly facing serious competition from Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount.
The Independent have reported that Arsenal and Manchester United are interested in signing Mason Mount from Premier League rivals Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool are also claimed to be keen on the 24-year-old England international midfielder.
Chelsea want at least £55 million in transfer fees for Mount.
According to The Independent, Manchester United do not want to pay £55 million, but the Red Devils are leading the race for the Englishman, described as “tenacious” by former Chelsea player Tony Cascarino in The Times this week.
As for Mount, the midfielder himself prefers a move to United to joining Arsenal or Liverpool.
“The midfielder believes United’s system under Erik ten Hag offers the best fit, with the Dutchman understood to have the clearest idea for him,” states the report.

Manchester United over Arsenal for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount
In our view, if Mason Mount is keen on working with Erik ten Hag at Manchester United, then Arsenal are very likely to miss out on the signing of the Chelsea midfielder in the summer transfer window.
Now, of course, Chelsea will not sell Mount for less than what they value him at, but if the midfielder is really keen on a move to Old Trafford, then we believe that a deal will eventually be struct.
United are going places under Ten Hag, and it seems that Mount wants to be part of the Red Devils’ squad and not Arsenal’s.
Now, both Arsenal and United are massive clubs, and both will be challenging for the Premier League title next season.
So, if Mount did move to the Red Devils, then it would be interesting to see if he is able to take the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners to the next level.
