Reading are ‘running the rule’ over the former Manchester United defender Joseph Nkwonta after Tottenham Hotspur rejected the chance to sign him, according to All Nigeria Soccer.
It is claimed that Manchester United opted not to offer Nkwonta a scholarship contract earlier this year, and the teenage centre-back is then said to have ‘tried his luck’ with Tottenham.
But Spurs delivered Nkwonta a similar response, citing his height as the deciding factor, according to All Nigeria Soccer.
The same publication reported earlier this year that the former Red Devils kid has also trained with Peterborough United and Exeter City with a view to earning a deal.
And it is now being claimed that Reading are the latest stop on Nkwonta’s tour of prospective clubs.

It is said that the Royals are expected to offer him a contract until 2022, if he impresses.
Nkwonta was considering changing his position, from centre-back to defensive midfield, after hearing of Tottenham’s decision, according to All Nigeria Soccer.
