Harry Arter’s £30,000-a-week wages could scupper his move to Nottingham Forest while Tiago Silva looks set to leave the City Ground for Olympiakos, according to the Sun (20 September, page 57).
With Sabri Lamouchi’s side still a little punch drunk after that disastrous final day collapse against Swansea City, it is perhaps no real surprise that Forest have begun the 2020/21 season with an almighty hangover.
A 2-0 defeat at home to Cardiff City on Saturday means that the Midland giants are sitting in the relegation zone with a grand total of zero points from a possible six.
Just to season the wounds a little further, the Sun reports that Nottingham Forest will not only miss out on one of the Championship’s best midfielders, they are also set to bid farewell to a man who produced seven goals and assists in his debut season on British soil.
Silva is set to leave Forest for Olympiakos, the Greek league champions who also owned by shipping magnate Evangelos Marinakis.
The Sun claims that the Portuguese play-maker will be allowed to leave as Forest look to raise funds. Although that does not mean there will be enough money in the coffers for Arter.
The Ireland international wants £30,000-a-week – a salary that looks beyond Nottingham Forest’s reach even if they cash in on Silva.
