Aston Villa striker Tammy Abraham has reportedly decided to stay at the club and reject a loan move to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Tammy Abraham has decided to snub a loan move to Wolves and stay at Aston Villa to help them earn promotion to the Premier League, according to a report.
Sky Sports claim that the 21-year-old striker looked set to join Wolves on a temporary basis from his parent club Chelsea but informed Villa that he would like to stay and help them in their promotion push.
Dean Smith’s side are currently sitting outside of the playoff places and will travel to Wigan on Saturday afternoon as they look to break into the Championship’s top-six.
Abraham has arguably been Villa’s top performer this season, scoring 16 league goals in his 21 league matches as news of him rejecting a move to the Premier League will boost the Midlands outfit.
It is said that Abraham didn’t train with his Villa teammates on Monday, but returned the following day to inform them that he will be staying with them for the remainder of the campaign.
During Villa’s last game, their 3-0 FA Cup defeat to Swansea, Abraham was not part of the squad as Smith opted to rest a number of first-teamers, including Abraham, James Chester, Yannick Bolasie and Conor Hourihane.
Scott Hogan led the line for Villa, but he was unable to impress, nor was Jonathan Kodjia, who came on as a second-half substitute for the home team.
At this moment in time, Villa set 10th in the Championship table and are five points off the final playoff places.
