Arsenal are thought to have joined the race to sign Galatasaray defender Victor Nelsson amid links to Tottenham Hotspur.

Galatasaray defender Victor Nelsson is now wanted by Arsenal alongside teammate Sacha Boey.

That is according to a report from Turkish newspaper Fanatik, who claim that Arsenal have joined Sevilla in the race for Nelsson.

The report claims that Galatasaray have received offers in the region of £13million to £14million for Nelsson.

However, their plan is to stick solely to the release clause in Nelsson’s contract, which stands at €25million (£21.5million).

It’s stated that even if Galatasaray receive an offer of €24million (£20.5million), then they would still say no.

That’s easy to say but a lot more difficult to follow through with if the money is on the table.

Arsenal are claimed to have joined the race, which is interesting given their pursuit of Galatasaray right back Sacha Boey.

Sporx in Turkey reported late in May that Arsenal had offered £15million for Boey, £7million away from the asking price.

There is now a chance that Arsenal push for both Nelsson and Boey in a double deal, but we are all too aware that Turkish reports can get a little carried away at times.

Arsenal could now challenge Tottenham Hotspur for Victor Nelsson

The links to Nelsson come after rumours suggesting that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in the Dane.

TRT Haber reported Tottenham’s interest in Nelsson in May, after Fabrizio Romano claimed that Galatasaray officials were in England for transfer talks.

Sporx claimed that Tottenham offered just €13million (£11.3million) for Nelsson, which was unsurprisingly rejected.

That price is nowhere near the release clause and Tottenham could end up missing out.

Tottenham certainly need new centre backs this summer and 24-year-old Nelsson is allegedly on the wish list.

Arsenal want another centre back as well though given that Rob Holding struggled towards the end of the season.

Adding another right-footer as cover and competition for William Saliba would be ideal and Nelsson may be their man this summer.
