According to The Daily Mail, talks between Rafael Benitez and Newcastle United are unlikely to happen this week.

Benitez is out of contract at Newcastle at the end of the month, and no new deal is in place.

The Daily Mail has reported that the former Liverpool and Chelsea manager is poised to leave the Magpies, as talks are unlikely to occur between him and the Premier League club “barring a dramatic turnaround in relations”.

Disappointing for Newcastle United fans

Benitez has been superb as the Newcastle manager, and it will be a huge disappointment for the St. James’ Park faithful if he leaves the club this summer.

Rafael Benitez, manager of Newcastle United, looks on prior to the Premier League match between Fulham FC and Newcastle United at Craven Cottage on May 12, 2019 in London, United Kingdom.

The Spaniard has worked miracles with Newcastle with the limited funds he has been given, and it is hard to think of another manager who will be able to achieve the same at the Magpies.

Benitez is one of the best managers in the world, and perhaps there is still time for Newcastle to convince him to stay at St. James’ Park beyond the summer.
