We’re into the final three days of the transfer window and West Ham United still don’t have a striker.
The Hammers sold Sebastien Haller to Ajax earlier this month but despite trying, David Moyes has failed to sign a replacement.
They have announced a deal to sign Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard on loan and that’ll appease some West Ham fans for now.
But they desperately need a number nine and one brilliant target still might be available.
It was reported by Corriere dello Sport last week that former Manchester City hitman Edin Dzeko had been offered to the East Londoners.
Since then, all the talk has been about the Roma striker joining Inter Milan in a swap deal with Alexis Sanchez.
But that proposal looks like it’s hitting the skids after Sky Sports Italia reported on Friday that a dispute over salary has caused Roma to stop negotiating.
As of now, Dzeko, labelled ‘extraordinary’ by West Ham icon Paolo di Canio, is still available.
It remains to be seen how genuine United’s interest is but, despite turning 35 in March, Dzeko remains a fantastic striker and Moyes should give this one last throw of the dice, based on the new report.
