Swansea City are tracking Preston North End’s on-loan Everton right-back Tyias Browning, according to the Sun on Sunday (26/02, page 63).
Browning has started five of a possible six matches for Preston so far, and was due to become a free agent this summer.
However, Everton’s decision to hand the 22-year-old a new two-and-a-half-year contract ahead of his departure for Deepdale means Swansea would have to pay up to land him.
Browning sat out much of the campaign’s first half due to injury, allowing Mason Holgate to step up.
However, his early displays for Preston, as well as Ronald Koeman’s faith in Everton’s young players, offer hope of a bright future at Goodison Park.
Swansea are not short of players in Browning’s position, although with long-serving Spaniard Angel Rangel turning 35 this year and his contract expiring in less than 18 months’ time, it is plausible the Welsh side would be seeking younger alternatives.
