Swansea City reportedly face a fight with Fenerbahce for Gameiro’s signature.
Swansea City are to make a club-record £25 million bid for Atletico Madrid striker Kevin Gameiro, according to the Sun.
The report states Swansea have been in touch with Gameiro and are willing to pay Atleti’s asking price, although it adds that Carlos Carvalhal’s side face a fight with Fenerbahce to sign him.
It is claimed the Turkish club could beat Swansea to Gameiro’s signature by offering better wages, while the Frenchman is said to have already turned down Premier League interest this window.
Gameiro, 30, scored Atletico’s winner against Eibar at the weekend – his sixth goal in 10 starts this season – but will be cleared to leave as the Spanish side balance the books, according to the Sun.
Atleti can finally make use of £60 million summer signing Diego Costa after their registration ban was lifted.
The report states that bottom-of-the-Premiee-League Swansea have also enquired about Gameiro’s teammate, Nicolas Gaitan.
